How to Replace Text in a PDF (Free, No Software)
A complete guide to editing text inside a PDF using a free online tool. Works on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, and Android — all you need is a browser.
Why editing PDFs is harder than editing Word docs
PDFs lock text to absolute positions on the page so the layout never shifts. That makes them great for sharing and terrible for editing. Most desktop tools — including Adobe Acrobat — charge for the privilege. PDF Text Replace gives you the core feature for free in your browser.
Step 1 — Upload your PDF
Open the editor, click Upload, and pick your PDF. Files up to 25 MB are supported. Nothing is stored permanently — your file is auto-deleted within an hour.
Step 2 — Enter the old and new text
Type the exact text you want to find, then the replacement. Capitalisation matters. The tool searches every page and highlights every match in yellow.
Step 3 — Choose which pages to edit
Tick the page checkboxes for the pages you want changed. Leave the rest unchecked to keep them as-is. This is useful when, for example, only the cover page needs updating.
Step 4 — Download your edited PDF
Click Replace & download. Your edited PDF is ready in seconds. Open it, check the result, and save it locally.
